Rulon International
Precision wood ceilings and walls from one of the longest-running names in the business.
About Rulon
Rulon International has been manufacturing architectural wood ceiling and wall systems since 1978. Based in St. Marys, Georgia, they've built a reputation for precision manufacturing and consistent quality. Their product line covers the same categories as other wood ceiling companies — grilles, planks, baffles, and custom systems — but Rulon is known for tight tolerances and clean detailing.
Rulon products show up frequently on high-profile projects: airports, courthouses, university buildings, corporate headquarters, and performing arts centers. When the spec calls for Rulon, the architect is usually looking for premium execution.
Rulon Products We Install
Linear Open (Grille Systems)
Wood grille ceilings with parallel wood members at set spacing. Rulon's grille systems use their Alurid carrier, which is an aluminum support channel that holds the wood members at precise intervals. The aluminum carrier ensures consistent spacing across long runs.
Linear Closed (Plank Systems)
Wood plank ceilings — tongue-and-groove or clip-mounted wood planks for a solid ceiling surface. Rulon machines their planks to tight tolerances so joints are barely visible.
Baffles
Wood baffles — vertical wood elements. Rulon makes both solid and veneer baffles in standard and custom profiles.
Wall Systems
Grille wall panels and plank wall panels that match Rulon's ceiling lines. Same species, same dimensions, same finish for ceiling-to-wall continuity.
Curved and Custom
Rulon has the engineering capability to produce curved ceiling sections, undulating profiles, and complex geometric patterns. Their shop drawings are detailed and accurate, which makes our installation planning much easier.
Why We Work with Rulon
Rulon's manufacturing precision is hard to beat. When panels arrive on site, they fit. Joints are tight. Dimensions match the shop drawings. That precision saves us time during installation and gives the architect exactly what they drew.
Their project managers are responsive and detail-oriented. Shop drawing turnaround is quick, and they're willing to work through unusual conditions without pushback. If the design is buildable, Rulon figures out how to manufacture it.
Rulon is frequently spec'd on East Coast projects and projects where the architect has a strong relationship with the Rulon rep. We're comfortable installing either Rulon or 9Wood and let the project team decide which manufacturer best fits their needs.
Rulon vs. 9Wood
Both make excellent wood ceiling products. In our experience, 9Wood has a slight edge on lead time for West Coast projects due to their Oregon location. Rulon ships from Georgia, so freight takes a few extra days. On product quality, they're comparable. The choice often comes down to which rep the architect has a relationship with and which manufacturer offers the specific profile the project needs.
