9Wood
Custom wood ceilings and walls from Springfield, Oregon. Our go-to for architectural wood systems.
About 9Wood
9Wood is a custom wood ceiling and wall manufacturer based in Springfield, Oregon. They started in 2004 and have grown into one of the top wood ceiling companies in North America. Everything they make is built to order — no stock products sitting on a shelf. You tell them what you want (species, dimensions, spacing, finish) and they build it.
Their name comes from the nine standard wood ceiling types they originally offered. The catalog has grown well beyond nine since then, but the name stuck.
9Wood Products We Install
Linear Open (Grille)
Wood grille ceilings are 9Wood's most popular product. Parallel wood members at consistent spacing — the classic linear ceiling look. Available in virtually any species, any size, and any spacing. We've installed 9Wood grilles in university buildings, corporate offices, hotels, and hospitals across Northern California.
Linear Closed (Plank)
Wood plank ceilings from 9Wood. Edge-to-edge planks with tongue-and-groove or clip connections. Solid or veneer. No gaps — a continuous wood surface. Popular for boardrooms, lobbies, and any space that needs a solid wood ceiling.
Grille Wall Panels
Wood grille wall panels that match the ceiling line. Same species, same spacing, same finish — just oriented for vertical installation. 9Wood designs their wall systems to coordinate with their ceiling products for a seamless transition.
Plank Wall Panels
Wood plank wall panels for feature walls, accent walls, and full-room cladding. Matches their plank ceiling systems.
Baffles
Wood baffles — vertical elements hung from the ceiling. 9Wood makes solid and veneer baffles in multiple profiles. They can be flat, tapered, or custom-shaped.
Specialty
Curved panels, undulating ceilings, custom patterns, and one-off designs. 9Wood's shop can build most things an architect can draw. Their engineering team works through complex geometries and produces shop drawings that make installation straightforward.
Why We Work with 9Wood
Three reasons:
- Flexibility. They build custom. Not "choose from these 5 options" custom, but "tell us what you want and we'll figure out how to make it" custom. That matters when architects push design boundaries.
- Quality. Their shop work is tight. Joints are precise, finishes are consistent, and panels arrive on site ready to install. We've rarely had quality issues with 9Wood product.
- West Coast location. Springfield, Oregon is a day's drive from Sacramento. Short shipping distance means lower freight costs and faster delivery compared to East Coast manufacturers. For Northern California projects, that's a real advantage.
Project Coordination
On a typical 9Wood project, we start by reviewing the architect's ceiling drawings with 9Wood's project manager. They produce shop drawings showing every panel, every hanger, and every edge condition. We review those drawings for constructability — can we actually build what's on paper? — and mark up any concerns. Once shop drawings are approved, 9Wood starts manufacturing. Lead time is typically 6-10 weeks depending on complexity.
Product ships on pallets. We unload, stage, and install per the shop drawings. 9Wood provides installation guides specific to each project.
